1. What Kahaani is

Kahaani is an entertainment app: a catalogue of short dramatic stories that you read and make choices in. Everything in it is fiction. Characters, events and dialogue are invented, and any resemblance to a real person or a real event is not intended and should not be inferred.

2. Who may use it

The stories are written for an adult audience. You must be old enough under the law where you live to enter into this agreement, and if you are under 18 you must have the consent of a parent or guardian. The app is not directed to children.

3. Your account, or the lack of one

There is no sign-up and no password. Your progress, your gems and anything you buy are attached to an identifier generated on your device. This means, plainly:

• they stay on that device and do not follow you to another one;
• uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, loses them;
• anyone who can use your unlocked device can use them.

We cannot restore a balance lost this way, because there is nothing left on the device that would let us identify which balance was yours.

4. Gems

Gems are a virtual item used inside Kahaani to unlock episodes and certain story choices. They are a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use a feature of the app — not property, not currency, and not a stored balance of money.

• Gems have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to another person, or sold.
• Gems can be bought through Google Play, or earned by watching a rewarded ad or through daily rewards. Earned and purchased gems are the same gems.
• Purchases are final once the content is delivered, except where a refund is required by law or granted under Google Play’s refund policy — all payment, billing and refunds are handled by Google, not by us.
• We may change what things cost, or what a purchase includes, going forward. We will not take away gems you already hold in order to do it.
• If the app is discontinued we will give reasonable notice where we can, and unspent gems will expire with it. They are not refundable at that point.

Do not buy gems from anyone other than through the app. We cannot honour anything bought elsewhere, and attempting to obtain gems by modifying the app or its data is a breach of these terms.

5. Paid story choices, and the free path

Some choices in a story cost gems, or a rewarded ad, to take. Where that is the case the price is shown on the choice itself before you pick it — a paid option is never disguised as a free one.

Every branch always has at least one free way through. No story can be put in a state where continuing requires payment; this is enforced by the software, not left to an author’s judgement. A paid choice buys a different path through a story, never the ability to keep reading at all.

Once you have paid for a choice in a show, replaying that show does not charge you for it again.

6. Advertising

The app is supported by ads, described in the Privacy Policy. Rewarded ads are optional and are shown because you asked for one; the reward is credited only after the ad network confirms the ad was actually watched. Full-screen ads that interrupt you are rate-limited by the app.

Ads are supplied by a third party. We do not choose which ones you see and are not responsible for their content or for anything you buy from an advertiser.

7. What you may not do

• Modify, decompile, or tamper with the app, or with the data it stores, in order to obtain gems, unlocks or content you have not paid for.
• Copy, redistribute, republish or resell the stories, artwork, audio or any other content in the app.
• Interfere with our servers, or attempt to access another person’s data.
• Use the app in any way that breaks the law where you are.

8. Ownership

The app, and all the stories, characters, artwork, voices, music and software in it, belong to Bhands or its licensors. You are given a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app for your own entertainment. Nothing here transfers ownership of anything.

9. Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove shows, episodes and features, and we may suspend or stop the app entirely. We try not to break things people are in the middle of, but we do not promise that any particular show will remain available.

10. Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting your data from Settings and uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms — in particular section 7. Gems are not refunded on termination.

11. Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data stored on your device will not be lost. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by agreement.

12. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Bhands is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost gems, progress or purchases arising from the loss of a device or its data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction — without affecting any right you have to bring a claim where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and continuing to use the app after that means you accept the update. If a change materially reduces what you get for something you have already paid for, we will say so in the app.
